Why does an international payment not go through on my online payment portal
If you have an overseas customer trying to pay on your website or online payment link with an international card and it keeps failing please keep the following in mind:
International cards can only go through if they are activated by their banks to transact in South Africa. They need to request that their bank activate the 3D secure function on their cards as not all countries has this activated. This will then send an OTP pin to their mobile phones via SMS or verification request on their banking app when they want to purchase online anywhere in South Africa.
If your customers are unable to put through American Express (Amex) cards, you might still need to apply for this service. If you need assistance with this, please email sales@wappoint.co.za or your account manager
