A quick introduction to WAPPoint POS Install and Setup

 

Introduction

 

The purpose of this guide is to help the user install and update WAPPoint POS. It also includes client-server set-up and printer set-up.

Note: Default password is 3

 

Download WAPPoint POS

 

Download the latest version from: https://wappoint.co.za/desktoppos/

 

 

Important to use correct version 32 or 64bit depending on the target operating system.

 

The install will set-up the following folder with the required files C:\Program Files\WAPPoint

*Firebird 3 database will also be installed on the target PC

 

 

Once downloaded, follow the on-screen instructions to Install WAPPoint POS

 

Update WAPPoint POS

 

Once installed, open the WAPPOint POS icon to start application. There are a few ways to access live updater

 

: From the Log In Screen

 

 

Option 2: From  C:\Program Files\WAPPoint\Point of Sale\LiveUpdate.exe

 

Option 3: From Hive Menu

 

 

Live Update

 

Use the check for update to start the download process and follow prompts.

 

Note: Updates are not automatic. This is by design. It is done to better manage client impact. As WAPPoint is evolving at a rapid pace.

 

 

Setup Server

 

There is no difference between the Server install and the client install. Thus the install and update procedure mentioned must be applied on all PC’s.

 

When updating to future versions in multi terminal environment. Be sure to update the server first and then the client machines.

 

Firebird Server Setup

 

Open your control panel > windows firewall > advanced settings

 

Open the incoming port in the windows firewall for port 3050 on the server

 

 

 

Client to Server Connection

 

 

 

Server: C:\Program Files\WAPPoint\Point of Sale\db\BIZZFOPOS.FDB 

Client: localhost/3050:C:\Program Files\WAPPoint\Point of Sale\db\BIZZFOPOS.FDB

    • localhost = server pc name or IP address
    • 3050 = incoming port opened on the server

 

 

Printer Setup

 

 

Use the mouse to select the desired printer from the list.

At the bottom set the default printer type

- Cash Slip for thermal receipt printers or

- A4 for standard office printers
